Registered Boer Does
We thought we were content with starting out slow with our three commercial doelings... until we attended the VA is for Boer Goat Lovers sale & the State Fair of Virginia Boer Goat show. We couldn't believe the growth rates on these girls and knew we needed to add a few to our herd. These beautiful ladies are from our friend Tina at Middle Lane Farm. Her goats are beautiful, healthy, and incredibly well cared for. We look forward to purchasing more in the future, and are very thankful for her guidance as we transition from a dairy herd to a meat herd and all the learning curves that entails!
The Commercial Does
These three does were the first step we took towards our goal of growing a productive meat goat herd. These does are half registered Nubian x half registered Boer and should make excellent brood does. Their dams are heavy milkers, and their sire has quite the impressive pedigree. Can't wait to see how they perform against the Fullblood & higher Boer percentage does in our herd. We are mindful of FAMACHA scoring, deworming records, and recording growth rates.
The Dairy Does
Many commercial meat goat herds keep a few dairy does on site to help raise orphan kids, or to supplement when a mother has had triplets (or more!) and simply can't keep up with the demands of multiple kids. Cindy & Camilla will be bred to a Boer buck this Fall and we look forward to recording their kids' growth & progress in comparison to our Fullblood & Boer percentage kids, and maybe even having a little extra milk for other babies (and us!).

Cindy is an excellent doe--she is a great mother, producer, she maintains a steady lactation, and is a very easy keeper. She & her daughter from this year are our only remaining LaManchas.
